Mullet Hairstyle

Mullet hair

A mullet hairstyle is characterized by long hair at the back and short in the front. The mullet was quite a popular hairstyle in the 1980-90s and was donned by both men and women. This particular hairstyle has a long history behind its origination.

It was believed that the mullet hairstyle would keep the back of the neck warm and was therefore adopted by many fishermen in the 19th century. The rock artists in the 1970 also contributed to the popularity of this hairstyle. In woman the mullet was popularized by “Florence Henderson” who was a famous soap star.

During the 19th century, the mullet went under various modifications such as perming the hair at the back and getting a crew cut in the front. Many people also tried getting spikes and highlights on a mullet to add to the craziness. After a few years the mullet lost its significance and was forgotten but it was brought back in the fashion circuit by the famous celebrity soccer player, David Beckham.

David Beckham brought a few changes to the mullet, modernized it and Voila the mullet was back on the fashionable hairstyle scene again. The mullet hairstyle looks best on those people who have a round face shape. The unique aspect of this hairstyle is that it will make your look longer by drawing attention to the cheek bones.

In the end to sport a good mullet all you need is a good hairstylist and lots of confidence and attitude to carry it off.
